CLAT FAQs
Everything you need to know about the exam, syllabus, and our programs.
General Information
Does NLU Delhi accept CLAT scores?
No. NLU Delhi conducts its own separate entrance examination known as AILET (All India Law Entrance Test). The formatting is slightly different and arguably harder than CLAT. EPA's comprehensive programs train you for both exams simultaneously.
Do I need a background in Political Science or Legal Studies?
No. CLAT tests your aptitude for law, not your pre-existing knowledge of the law. The legal reasoning section will provide you with a passage containing hypothetical laws, and you must apply those laws to a given factual situation. It is entirely comprehension-based.
Exam Pattern & Syllabus
What is the format of the exam?
The exam is OFFLINE (pen and paper based). It consists of 120 multiple-choice questions (reduced from 150) to be completed in 120 minutes. All questions are passage-based (around 450 words per passage) divided roughly into English, GK, Legal Logic, General Logic, and Quantitative Data Interpretation.
Is there a negative marking?
Yes, there is negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect attempt. Unanswered questions do not result in a penalty.

How do you handle Current Affairs/GK?
